Pritam Baruah, advocate of the Gauhati High Court, has been recently elected as the Vice Chairman of All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (AIFTP), Eastern Zone for the years 2020 and 2021. Mr. Baruah, who hails from Jorhat, is the youngest member to be ever elected as Vice Chairman of this premium body.
AIFTP is the supreme body of tax professionals which includes Senior Advocates, Advocates, Solicitors, Chartered Accountants and tax practitioners. Founded in the year 1976 by doyens of the Profession in presence of distinguished jurist Nani Palkhiwala, today the Federation is a body of 125 Professional Associations and thousands of individual life members administered through 5 zones of which the Eastern Zone is comprising of West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam and other North Eastern States and Sikkim.
The Federation, in the last more than 40 years, is serving the nation by developing a strong Tax Bar for the country and has been taking various steps for redressal of grievances of trade, industry and professionals and simplification of tax laws.
