Assam: Rangiya division achieves major successes during financial year

During the recently concluded financial year, Rangiya Division of NF Railway in Assam has shown exemplary performance in many fronts. While 140 dustbins have been provided in bio-toilets fitted passenger trains based in New Bongaigaon and Rangapara North for the use of passenger to avoid blockages of bio-toilets, platform number 1 of Rangiya station has been declared as litter free and no plastic use platform. All 97 stations under the Division have also been fitted with 100% LED lights.
Giving a boost to passenger amenities, new Foot Over bridges have been commissioned at Khoirabari, Goreswar and Khandikar stations. New waiting rooms have been provided at Tangla, Udalguri and Harmuti stations. New UTS (Universal Ticketing System) cum PRS (Passenger Reservation System) counter opened at Balipara station and a 2nd UTS counter opened at North Lakhimpur. One new PRS counter has also been commissioned at Barpeta Road Post Office. Drinking water supply systems for passenger have also been commissioned at Udalguri, Rowtabagan and New Misamari stations. Moreover 7 E-category stations have been provided with STBA (Station Ticket Booking Agents) for easy availability of train tickets. For ease of loading/ un-loading of goods, one Goods terminal has been opened at Azara station apart from 3 new sidings at Sorbhog, Bindukuri and Archipathar stations. The Azara siding is expected to play a major role in the decongestion of New Guwahati yard. CCTV cameras have also been commissioned at New Bongaigaon to monitor cleanliness activities executed by engaged contractors.
In consonance with the Digital India Initiative of Government of India, Goalpara Town, Dhudnoi, Rangapara North, Dekargaon and Naharlagun stations have been provided with free Wi-Fi facilities. POS (Point Of Sale) machines have also been provided at 26 stations under Rangiya Division. Rangiya station is also the first station in N.F.Railway to introduce Train Signal Register at Rangiya and New Bongaigaon stations. For real time monitoring of train movement Naharlagun , New Bongaigaon and Murkongselek stations have been connected through Data Logger with the Signal control at Rangiya for transparent monitoring of punctuality.
It may be mentioned here that Rangiya Division is the first Division in Indian Railways to introduce the “Honey Bee” project for keeping wild elephants away from track so that un-wanted collision with elephant can be avoided. It is also the first Division in NF Railway to award the advertisement rights to outside agencies on exterior surface of two passenger trains. This is the first such initiative of NF Railway for mobilisation of non-fare revenue.
