Guwahati: DCP suspended for security lapses during CJI’s kamakhya visit

Assam Govt suspended Guwahati DCP Bhanwar Lal Meena for lapses in security during CJI’s Ranjan Gogoi’s visit to the Kamakhya Temple.


The Assam government has suspended Guwahati (West) Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhanwar Lal Meena for serious lapses in security arrangements during Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi’s visit to the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on 17 October.

According to a media report , CJI Gogoi was visiting the temple during the Navratri festival when the security lapses caused him inconvenience.

According to the order issued by Deepak Majumdar, on the behalf of the Governor of Assam, DCP Meena has been suspended with immediate effect.

Chief Justice Gogoi and his wife had visited Guwahati on October 17 and his programme was intimated by the General Administration Department to all concerned.

There was, however, lapse of adequate security arrangements for the Chief Justice at Kamakhya Temple causing him inconvenience, the order stated.
