Nagaland Assembly Election 2023 Live Update: 1 Killed, 13 Injured As Bus Carrying Polling, Security Personnel Overturns In Wokha

Nagaland Assembly Election 2023 Live Update:  One person has been killed and 13 others were injured as a bus carrying polling and security personnel fell from the hill into the jungle in the Wokha district, the Nagaland Police said. The driver of the bus has been killed, according to the police. The injured include eight personnel of the Jharkhand armed police and one of the Nagaland Armed police.

In Nagaland, triangular contests are on the cards in 59 of the 60 assembly constituencies. The BJP, which won 12 of the state’s 60 seats in 2018, is contesting in alliance with the NDPP (Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party). Under the seat-sharing agreement, the NDPP is contesting on 40 seats and the BJP on 20 seats.

supporters of the National People’s Party (NPP) and Naga People’s Front (NPF) engaged in a clash at Bhandari assembly constituency in Nagaland on Monday .

In Nagaland, more than 1,300,000 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise to decide the electoral fate of 183 candidates in 59 out of 60 assembly seats. Polling across 2,291 polling stations, out of which, 196 will be managed by women polling personnel and 10 by people with disabilities.

03:30 pm- The percentage of voter turnout in the Nagaland Assembly Elections was recorded  at 72.99 per cent till 3 pm this afternoon. 

11:30 am –  Poll violence has been reported at Aonglenden constituency. There have been reports of stone pelting on voters by miscreants. To disperse the mob, police lathi charged the miscreants. Two candidates are contesting the election from the Aonglenden constituency.

11:30 am- Voter Turnout till 11 am is 39.08 percent. Highest polling district is Pughoboto with 49.44 percent . Lowest is Noklak district with 23.88 percent

11:00 am-  A proxy voter was caught red handed at SDO Office, PHED, Chumukedima sub-division, Dimapur II constituency.

08:30 am- Model polling station set up at Polling Station 20 under Dimapur 1 AC , Burma camp with assured minimum facilities including map lay out and selfie booth

08:00 am-  Four women candidates are contesting the elections in Nagaland this time. While the state has women in leading positions in every sphere, a woman MLA will be a first.
