Shillong- BSF organised ‘Border Cup’ football tournament in Meghalaya

In order to spot the talent from the villages along the International border, Border Security Forces ( BSF ) has started a ‘Border Cup’ football tournament in Meghalaya. It is being organised by various BSF Battalions deployed at border to form a team from their areas after conducting matches between teams from nearby villages.

A football tournament among bordering dwelling people of villages and  between various BSF Battalions organised for motivation  promotion, encourage and awareness of ‘Border Cup’ football tournament .

BSF has taken this initiative. During month of Nov’ and Dec’ 2017 various match played in bordering areas Jaintia Hills, Khasi Hills and Garo hills Distt, youths of this area participated with full dedication. Later these teams will compete for “Border Cup” at inter battalion level on occasion of Christmas to promote and awareness of football tournament in border area of Meghalaya. Every player of border dwelling will participate and celebrate the Christmas, it will also help in  identifying  the new talent and promote the most popular game on the border also.

Such public outreach programmes are being conducted to better understanding between the BSF and local populace. It has always been the endeavour of Border Security Force to help the border population.

Following the trend, this year also BSF will organise more Civic Action Programmes for the needy and under privileged border population residing in far-flung areas along the India–Bangladesh border to bring the feeling of mutual trust among the border population and the force personnel which will assist in smooth management of border,  said Sh.
