Assam Medical College to be get 100 Cr in 2017-18 Budget

In a press conference held at the circuit house in Dibrugarh on Sunday, Mr Sameer Sinha, commissioner  secretary, Health,  said that Rs 100 Crore in 2017-18 budget has been earmarked for Assam Medical College in the 2017-18 budget for repair of existing buildings wherever required,  construction of new building as per requirements and procurement of new equipments.

Mr Sinha visited Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh on sunday with his team comprising  Dr Anup Kr Barman,  DME;  Smti Laya Madduri, DC-Dibrugarh and other officials.

The team examined various aspects to strengthen the existing system to improve the quality of medical and educational services in AMC.

The team also had a meeting with the senior citizens and the faculty members of AMC today and discussed various issues including issues surrounding the radiology department,  blood bank, attendance of doctors, implementation of biometric attendance system etc.

Mr Sinha also informed that a committee has been formed for allocation of fund and related works and a vision document has been prepared and forwarded to the DME for further implementation.

” We will have an interaction with the students also” said Mr Sinha. He also said that The number of essential free medicines to be provided has been increased from 208 to 717. The road inside the campus will also be improved.

Dr Hiranya Kr Goswami has been appointed as Principal  (in-charge) of AMC on Sunday.

Total 6093  Atal Amrit Yojana card holders have benefited for medical treatment during the current year, informed Mr Sinha.

“We are aware of the fact that many posts of faculties are lying vacant and many new posts are required to be created. We are going to address the issue soon. We are making sure that we will bring back the glory of Assam Medical College very soon” – said Mr Sinha.
