Assam: Former DIG arrested in connection with SI recruitment scam

It has been confirmed by Assam Police DG office here today. He is being brought to Assam and could reach Guwahati by tonight.

Guwahati:  Former Assam Police DIG PK Dutta, the main accused in the SI recruitment scam, has been detained at International Indo-Nepal Border  and handed over to West Bengal Police. Assam Police would take him in custody in due course and bring him to Assam.

It has been confirmed by Assam Police DG office here today. He is being brought to Assam and could reach Guwahati by tonight.

Earlier, Assam Police investigating teams besides raiding Dutta’s residence at Rupkonwar Path in Hengrabari also raided his many hotels and property in Guwahati, Dibrugarh and Silchar.

The written examination for recruitment to Assam Police Sub-Inspector rank had to be cancelled on September 20 last immediately after the examination had commenced after detection of leak of question paper by the Special Branch of Assam Police.

Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal ordered thorough probe into the question paper leak episode that embarrassed the government.

Meanwhile  two persons Mrinal Kr. Nath  and  Kakumoni Nath have been  forwarded to the court today after they were arrested in connection with this case .  Both are candidates for the SI(UB) examination and had stayed in Hotel Bhargav Grand in the intervening night of 19th & 20th September 2020.

Dibon Deka who was initially arrested in Crime Branch Case No. 13/2020 has been shown arrested in CID PS case no. 21/2020 and he has been remanded by honorable court for 6 days custody of CID.
