Assam Police Seize Heroin Worth ₹6.22 Crore, Arrest Two in Major Drug Bust
The operation, carried out in the Saptagram area under Dholai Police Station, led to the arrest of two individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.

SILCHAR- In a significant blow to the narcotics trade, the Assam Police conducted a successful anti-narcotics operation in Cachar district, seizing 1.22 kg of heroin valued at approximately ₹6.22 crore.
The operation, carried out in the Saptagram area under Dholai Police Station, led to the arrest of two individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
Acting on credible intelligence, Cachar Police intercepted a vehicle and discovered 99 soap cases containing the narcotic substance, concealed in specially designed compartments.

The seized heroin tested positive during preliminary examinations, and investigations suggest the consignment was illegally transported from Churachandpur, Manipur.
Legal proceedings have been initiated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with further investigations underway to uncover additional links in the drug trafficking network.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police for their efforts, stating on X, “Based on credible intelligence, an anti-narcotics operation was carried out by @cacharpolice at Saptagram area under Dholai Police Station and seized 1.22 kgs of heroin worth ₹6.22 crore. This operation is part of Assam Police’s ongoing campaign to combat drug trafficking and protect communities from the dangers of narcotics. The seizure marks another milestone in the state’s relentless fight against illegal drugs.
