Nagaland’s Sethrichem Sangtam Honoured with ICRT Global Silver Award in London
BLF founder Sethrichem Sangtam receives the ICRT Global Silver Award in London, recognising his contributions to community-led responsible tourism in Nagaland.

LONDON- Nagaland’s Sethrichem Sangtam, Founder of the Better Life Foundation (BLF), was felicitated at a special event—“Incredible India: Travellers’ Paradise”—hosted by India’s High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, at India House, London, marking a major international recognition for India’s responsible tourism sector.
The event, held on November 6, celebrated the diversity and innovation within India’s tourism landscape and brought together dignitaries participating in the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025. Sangtam’s felicitation highlighted his leadership in advancing community-based responsible tourism and sustainable rural development in eastern Nagaland.

Earlier, on November 3, BLF received the ICRT Global Silver Award, after securing gold at the regional round in the category Peace, Understanding and Inclusivity. The award was presented by Debbie Hindle, Chair of ICRT Global, during a ceremony at India House.
Also present at the felicitation were Diya Kumari, Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan; Rohan Khaunte, Goa’s Tourism Minister; and Kandula Durgesh, Andhra Pradesh’s Tourism Minister. The dignitaries showcased the cultural and tourism strengths of their respective states while underscoring India’s commitment to sustainable, inclusive travel experiences under the Incredible India campaign.

Representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, noted that Sangtam’s work illustrates how community-led initiatives can strengthen livelihoods while protecting cultural and ecological heritage. His recognition is seen as an important milestone for grassroots tourism projects in the Northeast, a region increasingly acknowledged for its potential in nature-based and culturally immersive travel.
Sangtam, through BLF, has pioneered models that integrate conservation, local participation, and sustainable livelihoods—approaches now receiving global attention for their social impact and replicability across remote regions.
