Guwahati CA Shashank Saboo Honoured at ICAI AI Innovation Summit 2026

NEW DELHI-  Guwahati-based Chartered Accountant Shashank Saboo was felicitated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) during the AI Innovation Summit (AIS) 2026 in recognition of his achievement as the National Winner of the ICAI AI Hackathon Season 4, held in 2025.

The felicitation took place during the two-day summit organised by ICAI’s AI Committee at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on June 26 and 27. The event brought together more than 3,500 delegates, over 50 speakers and industry experts to discuss the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in accounting, auditing, taxation and governance.

Saboo’s recognition stems from his development of AI-powered solutions aimed at improving efficiency in the accounting and compliance ecosystem. According to the organisers, his journey is notable because he had only limited exposure to Artificial Intelligence a few months before participating in the national hackathon. Through self-learning and practical experimentation, he developed a series of applications designed to automate routine compliance functions.

Among his projects was a GST Reconciliation Tool, which automates reconciliation between GST returns and accounting records, and an AI Audit Dashboard, developed to assist auditors with anomaly detection and real-time analytical insights.

His winning project, Compli AI – Compliance Driven Automation Engine, was developed as an integrated compliance platform using Streamlit. The solution brings together multiple regulatory workflows, including GST compliance, TDS reconciliation and other repetitive compliance processes, with the objective of reducing manual effort, minimising errors and improving operational efficiency for Chartered Accountants and finance professionals.

At AIS 2026, Saboo was also invited to serve as a jury member for the AI Innovation Challenge – CA Innovators Showcase, contributing to the evaluation of emerging AI solutions developed by professionals and students.

The AI Innovation Summit 2026 was organised around the theme “Transforming Accounting, Audit, Tax, and Governance.” The programme featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, live technology demonstrations and the grand finale of the ICAI AI Hackathon Season 5.

Sessions explored topics including Agentic AI, sovereign AI models, AI-powered finance functions, audit transformation and responsible AI governance. The summit also provided a platform for showcasing AI applications relevant to financial reporting, compliance and enterprise governance.

One of the major announcements during the summit was ICAI’s collaboration with Sarvam AI to develop domain-specific Large Language Models (LLMs) tailored for the Chartered Accountancy profession, reflecting the institute’s broader focus on integrating Artificial Intelligence into professional practice.

Saboo’s recognition highlights the increasing role of AI innovation within the accounting profession and underscores ICAI’s efforts to encourage Chartered Accountants to adopt emerging technologies to improve efficiency, compliance and decision-making.
