NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak

In May 2026, the NEET-UG examination — India’s premier medical entrance test — became the centre of a massive national controversy. Held on May 3 for over 2.27 million aspirants, the exam was later cancelled after widespread allegations of a paper leak surfaced. “Guess papers” circulated on social media allegedly matched a large portion of the actual questions.

The NTA eventually conducted a re-examination under heavy security, while the CBI continues its probe, leading to several arrests including insiders. The scandal caused immense stress among students, protests, and even tragic cases of student suicides.

Paper Leaks Continue to Be a Serious Problem in India

Paper leaks have become an endemic issue in India’s examination ecosystem. From national-level tests like NEET and UGC-NET to various state recruitment exams, repeated breaches reveal systemic failures in paper setting, printing, transportation, and storage.

The involvement of organized networks, coaching mafias, and corrupt insiders, combined with the rapid spread enabled by messaging apps, has made leaks easier and more damaging.

This ongoing crisis not only destroys merit but also shakes public confidence in the fairness of competitive examinations. Stronger technological solutions, stricter laws, and better accountability are urgently needed to break this dangerous cycle.
