Meghalaya: BSF Celebrates International Women’s Day-2021
SHILLONG- To commemorate International Women’s Day, BSF Wives Welfare Association BWWA Meghalaya organized a medical camp and various cultural and other events at BSF HQ, Umpling (Meghalaya). During the Medical Camp Haemoglobin checkup of women was conducted by team of Doctors from Composite Hospital, BSF Umpling.
The cultural event started with lightening of lamp by Smt. Lakhdeep Kaur, BWWA President Shillong. The programme covered with canvas of activities like Dance, Yoga, Drama and ramp walk by women of BSF.
In her address BWWA President Meghalaya appreciated the immense contribution of “BWWA” in upliftment of jawan’s families in BSF where their husband stays on the border. She assured that all necessary help to BSF widows especially children’s education will be extended by the BSF.
On this occasion Hardeep Singh IG BSF Meghalaya Frontier facilitated and appreciated the relentless effort of Mahila prahari deployed at Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya.
To empower the wives of BSF personnel the BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) an organization trains and assists wives of BSF personnel in areas such as skill generation, education of children, introducing new opportunities/ avenues. It also provides the children of BSF personnel, career counseling and health, life style improvement, housing for widows and also resolves their problems so that wives of BSF personnel are empowered and geared up to face various challenges in life.
