Meghalaya: BSF, Police destroy illegal cultivation of Hemp plants in Tura
The growth of hemp was at the final stage and ripen enough to be consumed as a psychotropic substance.
TURA: In a joint operation conducted by troops of 28 Bn BSF and police from P.S Zikzak, South West Garo Hills on Dec 31, 2020, in which illegal Hemp plants planted in more than half acre of land were destructed by putting them on fire in the front of villagers.
The incident took place at village Bhoiragopi, South West Garo Hills. The growth of hemp was at the final stage and ripen enough to be consumed as a psychotropic substance.
The land used for cultivation belongs to Mohiran Hajong (35) , resident of village Bhoiragopi.
BSF is working hard to crackdown the syndicates indulged in all activities relating psychotropic substances under NDPS act. BSF intensified its vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border to prevent any attempt of smuggling of contrabands as well as NDPS substances.
Border Security Force in collusion with Meghalaya police once again belied the expectations of drugs dealers in Tura.
