PM Modi in Assam LIVE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday rolled out development projects worth Rs 11,600 crore during a function at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara in Guwahati, Assam. He also held a roadshow in the state capital in the presence of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Some of the major projects for which foundation stones were laid were the Kamakhya temple corridor (Rs 498 crore), the six-lane road from the new airport terminal in Guwahati (Rs 358 crore), the upgradation of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards (Rs 831 crore) and a new sports complex in Chandrapur (Rs 300 crore).
“Our pilgrimages, our temples, our places of faith, these are not just places to visit. These are indelible signs of our civilization’s journey of thousands of years,” the PM said while laying the foundation stone of Kamakhya temple corridor.
The second edition of ‘Asom Mala’ project, comprising of upgrading and construction of 43 new roads with 38 concrete bridges, was also kicked off by the PM.
Besides these, Modi laid the foundation stone for an integrated new building of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 3,250 crore, and laid the foundation stone for the proposed Karimganj Medical College and Hospital, which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 578 crore, and the Rs 297-crore Unity Mall in Guwahati.
Modi arrived in Assam on Saturday evening and stayed the night at the Koinadhara State Guest House in the city.

- The PM is scheduled to address a significant public rally at Guwahati’s Khanapara Veterinary College Field, where he will initiate the Rs 500 crore Maa Kamakhya Divyalok Pariyojana project and a Rs831 crore project to upgrade Guwahati’s Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards.
- Additionally, the PM will launch the Rs 3,444 crore Asom Mala 2.0 initiative, targeting the enhancement of 43 roads and the construction of 38 bridges across the state.
- Other endeavours include laying the foundation stone for the Rs 578 crore Karimganj Medical College, the Rs 300 crore Chandrapur Stadium, and the Rs 297 crore Unity Mall Development for commercial and recreational spaces, as stated by the CMO.

Ahead of Modi’s visit to Assam, the state saw a protest against the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The Co-ordination Committee Against CAA, Assam organised a demonstration at Guwahati’s Lakhidhar Borah Khetra on Saturday afternoon. Notable attendees included Hiren Gohain, an award-winning writer from Sahitya Academy, along with other distinguished citizens representing various fields.
