Guwahati- Troops of Indian Army in a joint operation with Assam Police apprehended a cadre of NSCN(R) near Ledo in Tinsukia District of Assam on Jun 09, said a defence press statement.
As per the statement, based on a specific input the joint team launched an operation and apprehended the cadre from the area. The apprehended cadre has been identified as SS Rajapio (Sergeant Major) Nongpong, r/o Deomali village in Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh.
It is suspected that the individual was actively involved in extortion activities in the area. The team also recovered one Point 22 Pistol with magazine, four live rounds of ammunition and two mobile phones from the insurgent, said the statement.
The apprehended individual has been handed over to Ledo Police Station for further investigations.
