A unit of Red Horns Division of the Indian Army conducted a live demonstration of its flood relief column at Hagrama Bridge site, Kajalgaon in Chirang District of Assam on 09 May 2019.
This column consisting of highly trained individuals of Army with specialized equipment has been formed to provide assistance to civil administration, if required during floods.
The column displayed its capability and fine waterman ship that would come handy during the flood relief operations.
The demonstration was witnessed by large number of dignitaries from Army and civil administration of Chirang and Bongaigaon Districts, as well by a huge flock of local citizens.
A strength of 21 Officers,15 Junior Commissioned Officers and 158 Other Ranks of Army, Sashastra Seema Bal(SSB), Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF), Assam Police, State Disaster Response Force(SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) & representatives of District Disaster Management Authority of Chirang and Bongaigaon District witnessed the demonstration.
Another aim of this demonstration was to formulate a well-coordinated and synergized flood relief plan, taking into account the organization, role and capabilities of the various civil administration agencies and Army.
This demonstration has given a positive and reassuring signal to the local populace that they will be looked after, evacuated and cared for, in case of any eventuality.
