Assam: Gram Shakti Abhiyan observed in Hailakandi

Gram Shakti Abhiyan was observed as part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan in a befitting manner across Hailakandi district of Assam.
A meeting was held on Saturday at Hailakandi Zilla Parishad on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Director, Ministry of Home Affairs, Akhil Saxena said various programmes under GSA have been observed to strengthen the Panchayati Raj system in the country and to make people aware about the slew of Central schemes which they can avail.
The Central Observer, who is supervising the implementation of schemes under GSA in Hailakandi district, exuded the optimism that poor and marginalised segments of the society would immensely benefit from the campaign beginning from April 14 and ending on May 5.
Chief Executive Officer, Hailakandi Zilla Parishad, NK Shantee Singha briefed the Central Observer about the activities undertaken and the upcoming ones in the identified 11 villages and 62 Gaon Panchayats across the district. Singha exhorted the need to work in tandem by the line departments to meet the targets within the stipulated time frame under GSA.
Beneficiaries of PMAY-G and Saubhagya were felicitated on the occasion. The best block award was given to Katlicherra Development Block for its performance under PMAY-G and best GP award to Gangpar Dhumkar Lakhirbond.
Local MLA, Anowar Hussain Laskar was present. Officials of Zilla Parishad, APDCL and line departments took part in the meeting. Steet drama was also enacted in different villages across the district.
