Assam: Hailakandi administration reviews ID celebration preparations

The Hailakandi district administration is making all out preparations for holding the 72nd Independence Day in a befitting manner.
Chairing a meeting with administration officials and district heads of different departments at DC’s conference hall here today, District Development Commissioner (DDC) FR Laskar directed the departments to chalk out various programmes in connection with the Independence Day.
It was decided in the meeting to hold the main event of hoisting the national tricolour at DC’s Office premises instead of the District Sports Association ground as in previous years.
DDC Laskar directed the Divisional Forest Officer, Hailakandi Division to launch tree plantation programmes. PWD officials have been directed to fill the potholes, make the surface plain and to erect pandals for the main programme while the Public Health Engineering department officials have been directed to ensure that potable water is available to the visitors.
The District Information and Public Relations have been directed to make arrangements of loud speakers to run patriotic songs in the wee hours.
Discussions were held to streamline the flow of traffic on that day.
Various colourful programmes have been lined up to mark the day, including display of tableau, daredevilry stunts and cultural pageantry.
The security aspect was also reviewed with senior officials of the civil and police administration taking stock of the law and order situation.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Additional Deputy Commissioner Amalendu Roy, CEO, Zilla Parishad, NKSK Singha, Additional SP, Jagadish Das, leading citizens, NGOs and Merchant Association.
