Assam: Miscreants attack on Police Personnel in Cachar

Police constable Rahim Uddin Khan was seriously injured in a fatal attack. He was rescued in serious condition and admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital

SILCHAR-  A group of unidentified miscreants attacked a police official on duty in Cachar district of Assam . The incident was reported this afternoon when the police personnel was on his routine patrolling at the Lailapur Police Patrol Post in Cachar District.

As per sources, A luxury car coming from Mizoram was intercepted by the on-duty police during naka checking. When a Police personnel entered the car for conducting search,  a group of miscreants attacked him. The miscreants further drove the policeman for about 1 km inside their vehicle and later dumped him off on the road and fled from the spot.

It maybe mentioned that on March 9, 6th Assam Police Battalion Jawan Kartik Nath, who was working at the Kholisha border outpost on the Assam-Mizoram border, died on the spot after being hit by a miscreant’s car on his way back to the camp. Kartik was a resident of Khirni area in Hamreng district.

It maybe noted that criminals involved in illegal trade try to use the 306 Silchar-Aizawl National Highway and other roads connected with Mizoram to carry out various types of illegal smuggling trade.

Police personnel deployed in border areas are always active to stop smuggling. They are constantly intercepting various illegal contrabands including drugs as well as smuggled articles.
