Assam Showcases Electronics Potential at Delhi Round Table; CM Sarma Invites Investors with Mega Incentives

Dr. Sarma also revealed that Rs. 5.30 lakh crore worth of investment proposals were received at Investors’ Summit 2.0, of which Rs. 1.5 lakh crore have been grounded.

NEW DELHI-   At the Assam Electronics Round Table 2025 held at Taj Palace, New Delhi, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma made a compelling call for investment in the electronics and semiconductor sectors, presenting Assam as the emerging industrial hub of Northeast India with robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and a slew of incentives.

Highlighting Assam’s strategic location, flanked by Bhutan and Bangladesh, and its central role in India’s Act East Policy, Dr. Sarma said the State’s economy has maintained a steady 13-15% GSDP growth over the past decade (excluding the pandemic years).

He cited Assam’s investor-friendly climate and the Government’s commitment to tailor policies for industry-specific needs.

Key announcements included:

  • The Jagiroad OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) Facility, nearing completion, is expected to manufacture 48 million chips daily by the end of 2025.
  • Three satellite townships, including a 216-acre integrated township near Jagiroad, are planned to support industrial and social infrastructure.
  • The State offers 100% free land, 60% additional incentives, 200% overall benefits, and 100% GST reimbursement on finished products under various central and state schemes.
  • A Rs. 1,000 crore Asian Development Bank-funded Skill University and training programs in Bengaluru are building a large skilled manpower pool.

Dr. Sarma also revealed that Rs. 5.30 lakh crore worth of investment proposals were received at Investors’ Summit 2.0, of which Rs. 1.5 lakh crore have been grounded.

Assam Industries Minister Bimal Borah, Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, and Commissioner Kavitha Padmanabhan provided further insights into the State’s policy framework and township infrastructure.
Presentations were made by Tata Electronics and other companies including Jabil, CP Plus, VVDN, Kaynes Group, and Elcina.

Calling Assam “India’s next big growth story,” Dr. Sarma urged electronics manufacturers and global investors to visit the Jagiroad OSAT facility and explore opportunities under the Assam Electronics Policy 2023.

“By offering world-class facilities, tailor-made incentives, and unwavering policy support, Assam is committed to becoming a preferred destination for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing,” Dr. Sarma affirmed.
