COCOMI to Meet MHA Amid Rising Tensions in Manipur
The urgency of the meeting has been heightened by the recent Gwaltabi incident, which triggered fresh unrest.

IMPHAL- The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) will hold a crucial meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on 27th May 2025 in New Delhi, COCOMI informed in a press statement.

The urgency of the meeting has been heightened by the recent Gwaltabi incident, which triggered fresh unrest. COCOMI strongly condemned the use of mock bombs and tear gas against peaceful protestors—many of them women and elderly—during demonstrations on 25th May, calling the act “unwarranted” and “unbecoming of a democratic administration.”
COCOMI has demanded:
- A public apology from the Governor for perceived insults to the people of Manipur.
- The removal or transfer of key state officials—the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and Security Advisor—for alleged incompetence and anti-state decisions.
- An immediate end to excessive force against peaceful demonstrators and accountability for police actions.
