3 Killed After Helicopter Crashes Near Pune

PUNE ( Maharashtra ) At least three three people died on Wednesday after a helicopter crashed and caught fire in Maharashtra’s Pune, news agencies reported.
The three victims have been identified as pilots Girish Kumar Pillai and Paramjit Singh and engineer Pritamchand Bharadwaj.
A helicopter carrying three people crashed near Bavdhan in the Pune district on Wednesday morning. Fire officials say all three passenger on board were killed in the clash. Police and fire officials said the chopper was operated by Heritage Aviation.

The aircraft, operated by a Delhi-based private aviation company, had taken off from the Oxford Golf Course helipad and was en route to Juhu in Mumbai.
Preliminary reports indicated that the victims included two pilots and an engineer. The crash occurred at approximately 6.45 am in a hilly area of Bavdhan, close to the Oxford Golf Course, according to police.
“After arriving at the spot, we saw that the chopper had crashed and all its parts had scattered. There was a smouldering fire. We were able to extract 3 casualties and these were handed over to the police. Initially, we got the information that it was the chopper of some Heritage Aviation Company. Other information is yet to be ascertained,” said the fire official.

“Three persons have died in the helicopter crash. Our teams, along with fire department vehicles, have reached the spot,” stated Vinaykumar Choubey, Commissioner of Police for Pimpri Chinchwad.
The helicopter ignited following the crash, and investigations into the cause of the incident are currently underway.
