Assam: Anand Kumar of Super 30 appeared before Gauhati HC
The court, however, granted liberty to the petitioners, to approach Patna HC and accordingly considered the PIL closed.

The Gauhati High Court on Thursday ordered closure of a PIL filed by four students against mathematician Anand Kumar for allegedly cheating them in the name of admission to Super 30, the education programme run by him.
The court, however, granted liberty to the four IIT Guwahati students, the petitioners, to approach a court which has jurisdiction over Patna and accordingly considered the PIL closed as withdrawn.
Today as per the direction given by the Division Bench of Chief Justice Ajai Lamba and Justice A. M. Bazarburah, Mr. Anand Kumar appeared before the Gauhati High Court and apology was sought for from the Court. Further, Mr. Kumar deposited Rs. 50,000/- cost as directed by High Court to the Guardians and Students who claimed that Mr. Kumar cheated them in the name of Super 30.
Dr. Ashok Saraf, Sr. Advocate appearing for the Petitioners who are presently studying at IIT –JEE submitted before the Court Because of the wrong projection given by the Respondent No. 8, each year a number of students from north east and other parts of India are approaching the Respondent No. 8 ( Anand Kumar ) with full faith and hope that the Respondent No. 8 will help them in qualifying the IIT entrance exam. But after reaching the Respondent No. 8, the Respondent No. 8 took their admission in his Coaching Institute namely Ramanujam School of Mathematics by charging a huge amount about Rs. 33,000/- per student.
Dr. Saraf further submitted before the Court that in the year 2018 also, the Respondent No. 8 claimed that from his “super 30” out of 30 students 26 students cleared the IIT entrance exam but till today Respondent No. 8 has not disclosed the names of 26 IIT entrance qualified students.
Mr. Amit Goyal, appearing for the Petitioners told that the Division Bench of Gauhati High Court took note of the averments made in PIL, affidavit filed by Abhayanand, IPS Ex-DGP, Bihar, affidavits filed by other Students who claimed that they have been cheated by Mr. Kumar in the name of Super 30 and affidavit filed by Mr. Anand Kumar and felt that it would be appropriate if the petitioners approach the court who has jurisdiction over Patna and accordingly liberty is granted to the Petitioners to approach the court who has jurisdiction over Patna and accordingly PIL is closed as withdrawn.
