Manipur: NIA arrested one more accused in connection with kwakta bomb blast

Accused was produced before the jurisdictional court at Imphal which remanded him in NIA custody for seven days, the official said.

IMPHAL-  The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Thursday held a person in connection with an explosion in a car on a bridge in the Bishnupur district of Manipur in June, an official said, adding it was the second arrest in the case.

A spokesperson for the agency said Mohd Islauddin Khan was arrested by an NIA team in coordination with the Manipur Police.

Md Islauddin Khan,  arrested in connection with the case of a bomb blast in a vehicle on June 21 this year in the Kwakta area in Manipur’s Bishnupur district. The case was initially registered by Manipur Police on June 21 and later re-registered by the NIA on June at Imphal.

The NIA investigations in the case revealed the involvement of Islauddin in the bomb blast that took place on June 21 in an IED-laden vehicle parked over a bridge located in the area of Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai and Kwakta along Tiddim road in Bishnupur district of Manipur.

Three persons were injured and the bridge, along with nearby houses, was damaged as a result of the bomb blast.

Khan was produced before the jurisdictional court at Imphal which remanded him in NIA custody for seven days, the official said. Further Investigations in the case is going on.
