Manipur CM Meets Nitin Gadkari, Seeks Early Approval for Elevated Highway Project
During a meeting in New Delhi, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh briefed Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on progress and challenges related to key highway projects, including the Imphal-Jiribam and Imphal-Dimapur corridors.

NEW DELHI: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi and discussed progress on several key road infrastructure projects in the state.
According to an official statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Singh briefed the Union Minister on measures undertaken by the State Government to resolve long-pending issues concerning the Imphal-Jiribam Highway and the Imphal-Dimapur Highway.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also sought early sanction for the proposed Elevated Highway Project. The statement said that Gadkari responded positively to the request made by the State Government.
Regarding National Highway 37, also known as the Imphal-Jiribam Road, Singh informed the Union Minister that land compensation matters in Noney district had been approved by the State Cabinet following a revised survey. He further stated that work on the project has already commenced.

On the Imphal-Dimapur Highway, the Chief Minister said issues relating to Kangpokpi district have been resolved and that a special package for the project was approved by the State Cabinet.
Singh also informed Gadkari that land-related challenges continue to affect the Imphal-Ukhrul-Jessami Highway project. According to the statement, the State Government is currently engaging with stakeholders to facilitate an early resolution of the pending issues.
The meeting comes as Manipur seeks to accelerate critical road infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity, easing transportation and strengthening economic integration within the state and with neighbouring regions.
