Assam: Bomb Threat at Gauhati High Court Deemed Hoax; Security Measures Intensified

An anonymous email from a group calling itself 'Madras Tigers' prompted a comprehensive security sweep at the Gauhati High Court; no explosives found, and court operations remained uninterrupted.

GUWAHATI- The Gauhati High Court on Thursday received a bomb threat via email from an unidentified organization named ‘Madras Tigers.’ The email threatened to detonate explosives within the court premises, leading to immediate action by the Assam Police.

Security personnel, including bomb disposal squads, conducted an exhaustive search of the court complex.  After thorough inspections, no suspicious items were discovered.

A senior police officer  confirmed that the threat was a hoax, stating, “It’s a hoax only. Nothing found.”

A senior official of the High Court said the email was received from an unknown organisation, named ‘Madras Tigers’, which threatened to blow up the entire building.

Despite the alarming nature of the threat, the High Court’s operations continued without disruption. Judges proceeded with scheduled hearings, and court staff maintained regular duties.

This incident marks the second bomb threat hoax in Guwahati this year, following a similar scare on Republic Day. Authorities are investigating the source of the email and have heightened security measures around the court premises.
