Assam: Hailakandi bags second position in Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2019
Hailakandi got 65,923 votes through mobile app and was placed in the second position. Dibrugarh district secured the first position.

Hailakandi district has bagged the second ranking among all the districts of Assam in the Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2019.
Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli received the award from Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the presence of Minister for Public Health Engineering Department, Rihon Daimary, Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Naba Kumar Doley and other dignitaries at the Swachh Mahotsav at Khanapara Veterinary Field in Guwahati on Thursday.

An elated Jalli congratulated Team Hailakandi for the remarkable success. “It’s a win for Team Hailakandi. Congratulations to all,” she said.
It may be mentioned that Hailakandi district had become open defecation free (ODF) in September last year with construction of over 80,000 individual household latrines at a cost of around Rs.101 crore under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).
