Manipur: Suspected Kuki Militants Fire at Army Post
No casualties reported after suspected militants opened fire on an Indian Army post in Manipur; joint security operations underway.

IMPHAL- Suspected armed Kuki militants opened fire near Phouljang and Gothol areas in Manipur, allegedly targeting an Indian Army post located at Phougakchao Awang Leikai, according to a statement issued by Manipur Police on Thursday.
The incident occurred late on the night of March 25 at approximately 11:40 PM. In a post shared on X, the police said that the militants fired towards the Army position from the surrounding area.
Security forces, including personnel of the Indian Army and the 58th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), responded by returning fire. Officials stated that the exchange of fire lasted for around 30 minutes before subsiding. No casualties have been reported so far.

Following the incident, a joint operation was launched from the early hours of March 26 involving the Indian Army, CRPF, Manipur Police, and the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB). The operation is being carried out in the area where the firing occurred as well as in adjoining hill regions, with the objective of tracing those involved.
Police officials said the situation is being closely monitored and that security forces will continue operations in the surrounding areas to prevent any escalation. Authorities also urged the public to refrain from spreading rumours and to verify information before sharing it.

In a related development, security forces arrested an active cadre of the United National Liberation Front (Pambei-led faction) from the Patsoi area. A mobile phone was recovered from the individual during the operation.
Additionally, six bunkers allegedly constructed illegally were dismantled on March 25 in the Litan and Mongkat Chepu Upper village areas of Imphal West district. Officials stated that these actions are part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the situation in violence-affected regions.
According to the police, the overall law-and-order situation in the state remained normal over the past 24 hours, even as security forces continued search operations and area domination exercises in sensitive and fringe areas.
