Manipur CM Visits Makhan Naga Village, Reviews Situation of Displaced Families
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited Makhan Naga Village in Kangpokpi district, reviewed relief arrangements for displaced persons and assured action in the hostage case involving Naga civilians.

MAKHAN- Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday said that four suspected individuals have been arrested in connection with the reported kidnapping of six Naga civilians, adding that security forces are continuing search and combing operations to trace the hostages.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to Makhan Naga Village in Kangpokpi district, the Chief Minister stated that the government is treating the matter with seriousness and that investigations are underway to identify and apprehend all those involved in the incident.
He said the state government shares the concerns and sentiments of the affected communities and expressed confidence that the hostages would be traced soon.

Makhan Naga Village currently hosts a relief camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), including Naga women and children from Konsakhul Village who were reportedly taken hostage and later released by armed miscreants.
During the visit, the Chief Minister interacted with inmates sheltering at the Makhen Baptist Church relief camp and reviewed their living conditions. Relief materials, including rice, dal, potatoes, onions, edible oil, sugar, tea leaves and biscuits, were distributed among the displaced families.

Officials informed that around 35 inmates are currently taking shelter in the village.
The Chief Minister also inspected the village community hall and held discussions with village leaders and district officials regarding the possibility of accommodating additional displaced persons if required.
He directed the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi district to ensure the supply of essential items such as mattresses and mosquito nets for the inmates.

According to local village representatives, several Naga residents in Kangpokpi district have reportedly left their villages due to security concerns and fear arising from recent incidents.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, MLAs Leishiyo Keishing, Awangbou Newmai, Heikham Dingo Singh, Janghemlung Panmei, Khashim Vashum, Ram Muivah and J Kumo Sha, along with Commissioner (Home) N. Ashok Kumar and Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi Mahesh Chaudhari, among others.
Upon his arrival at the Makhen Baptist Church Guest House, the Chief Minister was welcomed by local leaders, including the chairpersons of Makhan and Konsakhul villages, who briefed him on the difficulties being faced by displaced families staying at the relief camp.
