As part of the demonstration, several protesters reportedly lay on funeral pyres while standing in water, describing the act as a symbolic expression of their opposition to displacement and their demand for justice. The protesters alleged that land acquisition for the project has resulted in the demolition of homes and threatened their livelihoods.

The protesting families have demanded fair compensation, proper rehabilitation, and meaningful consultation before relocation. They contend that the current rehabilitation measures are inadequate and have urged the authorities to address their concerns.
