GANGTOK- Former Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling appeared in Sadar Police station here on Wednesday for interrogation in connection with an alleged online post that contained derogatory comments about a girl’s dance performance.

Earlier, a social media post had appeared under the Id Pawan Chamling Ideas, being operated since 2022. Since it allegedly contained certain derogatory terms about a 15 year old girl’s dance performance, her mother had lodged a complaint at the police station.
Consequently, Chamling had to appear in accordance with Section 161 Cr Pc,to ‘undergo oral examination.

Chamling, now 73, was the longest serving chief minister in India, surpassing the record of West Bengal’s Jyoti Basu. He remained chief minister of Sikkim from 1994 to 2019.
